The exhibition THEME DEMOCRACY CRISIS is on display at Kullar & Klang in Galleri Garage throughout the summer of 2026. Opening Sunday, June 28 at 1 p.m.

Why is a democratic renovation needed to achieve a sustainable future?

It is becoming increasingly clear now, in 2026, that there are many unresolved societal problems that have to do with a lack of democratic function at all levels of society, from local to national and global. What could a deepened democracy mean and what could it contribute to finding solutions to the various major societal problems?

The exhibition takes its starting point in Athens in 508 BC, when the Athenian people rebelled against war, lawlessness and chaos. The solution came through a reform proposal that the people could accept. This system was called Demokratia – rule by the people. It created more order and was permanent for 180 years.
